The Oceanana was opened in 1959 by A.B. Cooper, Sr. and was marketed as “The Family Playground of the South.” Until his death in 2001, Mr. Cooper played host to generations of families who returned to Atlantic Beach year after year for their vacations.
The Cooper family still owns and operates the resort and in 2012 undertook a major renovation of the property to upgrade and modernize the rooms so that future generations will be able to enjoy their stays at the Oceanana as others have in the past.
